When it comes to travel in the United States, the place that everyone dreams of and no one does not know is the famous Grand Canyon. In travel agencies, websites, everyone recommends Grand Canyon tours. Not just driving to the sites overlooking the Grand Canyon, but helicopter rides, gliders, boats and hiking to the bottom of the valley to get a more detailed look at the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon is a canyon in northern Arizona, USA, eroded by the Colorado River over many years. Geological layers dating back over a billion years can be observed with the naked eye. The total length of the Grand Canyon is about 446 km, with a maximum depth of about 1,900 meters, an average depth of 1,200 meters, and a width from 500 meters to 29 km. It is so huge that it is visible to the naked eye from the International Space Station.

Aboriginal people have inhabited the area for thousands of years. The different tribes have different names: Ongtupqa, Wikatata, Paxa’uipi, etc. In 1540 the first Spaniard Garcia Lopez de Cardenas and his soldiers discovered the Grand Canyon and viewed it with a native Hopi guide.

In 1826, James Ohio Partee led American hunters to the area, the first Europeans to come to the Grand Canyon besides the Spaniards.

In 1903, outdoor enthusiast U.S. President Roosevelt came to the Grand Canyon for the first time and said.

“The Grand Canyon fills me with awe; it is incomparable, indescribable, and unique in this vast world. Let this great natural wonder remain as it is. Do not do anything to detract from its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it. But you can preserve it for your children, your children’s children, and all those who come after you, as the one great sight that every American should see.”

In 1908, President Roosevelt created the National Memorial Park, and in 1919, by an act of the U.S. Congress, Grand Canyon National Park was established.

The Grand Canyon’s attractions are divided into the West Rim, South Rim, and North Rim. The West Rim is the closest to Las Vegas and has the Skywalk. The South Rim is the most popular and most of the beauty is here, located inside the National Park. The North Rim is the opposite of the South Rim, the highest part of the Grand Canyon. Because it takes a day to travel from the South Rim to the North Rim, fewer people go there. This issue mainly introduces the representative attractions.
